Fistula Hepatica
Fistulina hepatica (beefsteak fungus, also called beefsteak polypore or ox tongue) is an uncommon bracket fungus placed in the Agaricales, striking for its resemblance to a slab of raw meat. It has served as a meat substitute in the past and still turns up in some markets, with a sour, slightly acidic flavor. Pick it young, since it can be tough and need lengthy cooking. It may be poisonous; eat at your own risk.
